Who this agreement is with
Deutsch is a German-language learning app developed by Oleksandr Turovskyi ("we", "the developer"). By installing or using the app you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
This agreement is concluded between you and the developer only, and not with Apple or Google. The stores distribute the app and take payment; they are not responsible for the app itself, its content or its operation. Address any claim about the app to us.
These terms come in addition to the rules of the store you installed the app from. For App Store purchases, Apple’s standard licence agreement also applies; where it is stricter, or governs a point directly, it prevails.
Licence
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive licence to use the app. You are not buying the app and you acquire no ownership of it — you get the right to use it for as long as you keep to these terms.
- The licence is non-transferable: your account and access cannot be sold, given away or rented out.
- From the App Store, the app may be installed on any Apple-branded products that you own or control, within the store’s Usage Rules, including Family Sharing and Volume Purchase.
- You may not distribute the app or its content, create derivative products from it, or decompile or reverse-engineer it — except where the law expressly allows it.
- Updates and new versions are covered by these same terms unless different terms are supplied with them.
The licence lasts until you delete the app or until we end it because these terms were broken. Once it ends, you must stop using the app; any paid period is refunded under the payments section.
Account
You can learn without an account — progress is kept on the device. An account is what syncs progress across devices and keeps it when the phone is gone.
- Use a real email address: it is how access is restored.
- One device works with one account at a time. Signing in with another account clears the previous account’s local data — that is the guard against mixing someone else’s progress into yours.
- You are responsible for what is done under your account.
- The account and all of its data are deleted from inside the app: Settings → Delete account.
The app is intended for users aged 13 and over. If you are younger, use it only with a parent’s or guardian’s consent.
Deutsch Premium subscription
Free of charge you get the first sections of your level (the course map shows exactly which), one final level exam of your choosing, the first story, and everything built on what you have already done: spaced repetition of your own words, the dictionary, statistics, achievements and the leaderboard. Each AI tool — the tutor, the flashcard set, the set from a photo and the mistake breakdown — can be used twice a week for free; the counter resets every Monday.
Deutsch Premium unlocks the rest of the A1–B2 course, every further final level exam, the rest of the graded reader, offline lesson packs, and AI without the weekly allowance.
- The subscription is offered monthly or yearly and renews automatically.
- If the store offers a free trial, the subscription becomes paid automatically when the trial ends, unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it does.
- Payment is charged to your store account at confirmation of purchase, and thereafter within 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- To stop it renewing, turn off auto-renewal at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- The price is shown in the app before you confirm the purchase — in your currency and with your country’s taxes applied.
- You can manage and cancel the subscription in your App Store or Google Play account settings. Access stays until the end of the period you paid for.
- If you are signed in, the subscription is tied to your account: on a new device, sign in to that same account or tap “Restore purchase” on the subscription screen.
If we change the price you will be told in advance, and for existing subscribers the change only takes effect after you explicitly agree — the stores require that. We may change what the free tier contains, but we never move into it something a subscription has already paid for.
Payment and refunds
We take no payment directly and never see your card details. All purchases are processed by Apple or Google, and refunds are decided by them under their own rules. We learn whether your subscription is active through RevenueCat; the Privacy Policy has the details.

Google Play — play.google.com/store/account/subscriptions ↗
If the store refused and you think it was a mistake, write to us: we cannot refund on the store’s behalf, but we will help sort it out. None of this limits your statutory consumer right to withdraw from the contract.
AI features
The tutor, the mistake breakdown, flashcard generation and pronunciation grading run on language models. They get things wrong. Their answers are study help, not a final authority and not professional advice.
For these features to work, the text, photo or voice recording you supply is sent to the model provider. What exactly, and where, is set out in the Privacy Policy.
We may limit how many requests you make if the load becomes disproportionate — automated requests, for instance.
Rules of use
Do not:
- share or trade access to your account;
- try to get around payment, including by tampering with the app;
- decompile the app, except where the law expressly allows it;
- bulk-export or scrape the course in order to republish it;
- use the AI features to produce unlawful content.
We may limit or end access for breaking these rules. If that happens during a paid period through no fault of yours, we refund the unused part.
Content and rights
The course, texts, audio, illustrations and code belong to the developer and are protected by copyright. A subscription gives you the right to use them personally inside the app, not to own them.
What you create — your flashcard sets, answers and recordings — stays yours. We process it only to run the app.
Maintenance and support
The developer is solely responsible for maintaining and supporting the app. Apple and Google have no obligation whatsoever to furnish any maintenance or support services for Deutsch.
Write to foodysupport@gmail.com — we normally answer within a few working days. Say which device and app version you are on and what actually happened, and the first reply will be a useful one.
Warranty and liability
The app is provided "as is" and "as available". We do not warrant that it will run uninterrupted or error-free, and we promise no particular learning outcome: that part is up to you.
If an app obtained from the App Store fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price you paid for it. To the maximum extent permitted by law, that is Apple’s entire warranty obligation; any other claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs or expenses attributable to a failure to conform to a warranty are the developer’s responsibility.
We are not liable for losses caused by being unable to use the app. To the extent the law allows, our liability is limited to what you paid for the app over the last 12 months.
None of these limits removes consumer rights that cannot be limited by contract.
Third-party claims
The developer, not Apple or Google, is responsible for addressing claims relating to the app. That includes, in particular:
- product liability claims and any harm the app causes;
- any claim that the app fails to conform to a legal or regulatory requirement;
- claims arising under consumer protection or privacy legislation;
- claims that the app infringes a third party’s intellectual property rights.
Investigating, defending, settling and discharging any such claim is our obligation and our expense, to the extent provided in these terms.
Legal notices
By using the app you represent that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo, or designated as a "terrorist supporting" country, and that you are not listed on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
You must also comply with any applicable third-party terms when using the app — your mobile carrier’s data plan terms, for example.
Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms, and upon your acceptance you agree that Apple has the right — as a third-party beneficiary — to enforce these terms against you.
These terms are governed by the law of your country of residence as regards your mandatory consumer rights; disputes that correspondence cannot settle are heard by the courts of your place of residence.
Changes to these terms
We may change these terms — when new features arrive, for example. The date at the top of the page marks the revision. We will announce material changes in the app; continuing to use it means you accept the new revision.
Revision of 2 October 2026: the free tier is described without an exact section count, since the server sets it; the practice labs, which the app no longer has, were removed; the free-trial terms, restoring a purchase and a mention of RevenueCat were added.
